Description

The main objectives of the project is to increase the capacity of local volunteer centers and promote networking in the field of volunteer management in Estonia. A four-day training program and two networking meetings will be carried out as major events, aiming to raise the quality of work of local volunteer centers and promote exchange of experiences between them. In addition, a citizen’s forum will be organized, providing volunteer centers with broader understanding of the needs and opinions of their target groups. 15 organizations – local volunteer centers and others promoting volunteering – will participate in the activities of this project. The project will be carried out by NGO Estonian Village Movement Kodukant in partnership with NGO Free Will. Movement Kodukant is responsible for general project management and organizing networking meetings and citizen’s forum. Project partner will be involved in drawing up and performing the training program.

Summary of project results

The objective of the project was raising capacity of volunteering infrastructure in Estonia and as a result of the project the objective was reached. A volunteer management training program was developed in cooperation with project partner NGO Free Will, to raise the capacity of volunteer involving organisations and volunteer centers. Four training days were carried out and in the future Kodukant Training Center will offer trainings to interested NGOs in Estonia. On April 22 a Forum on Volunteering in Social Field was organised. As a result, cooperation with Ministry of Social Affairs and Estonian Unemployment Insurance Fund was started. To foster communication and cooperation, a network of 28 volunteer involving NGO-s was created. 28 NGOs were involved in the activities of this project, including regional volunteer centers. The main benefits are increased capacity to coordinate volunteers on local and regional level and organise better advocacy through cooperation of NGO-s.
