Description

The objective of the third sector future group project is to predict how social and economic change will influence civil society organizations (CSOs) the next few years and how CSOs can succeed in embracing the change, based on the existing studies, statistics and expert views. Project completes four reports, concerning the most current issues for CSOs with concrete recommendations to plan their actions and advise the implementation of these recommendations. The project will also improve the CSOs ability to include passive and marginalized target groups in their activities. The main result is increased operating capacity of CSOs. The planned discussions will help to turn the results of the reports into practice. At least four CSOs will enforce the proposed recommendations in their advocacy work as a result of the project.

Summary of project results

The objective of the third sector future group project was to predict how social and economic change will influence civil society organizations (CSOs) the next few years and how CSOs can succeed to embrace the change, based on the existing studies, statistics and expert views. In our opinion the objectives of the Project are met and results achieved. We completed four reports, concerning the most current issues for CSOs with concrete recommendations for CSOs to plan their actions and advised the implementation of these recommendations. In cooperation with CSOs and the Council of NENO, we chose four thematic areas (diversity of funding, involvement of socially vulnerable target groups, cooperation forms of the CSOs and the impact of information society on the activities of the CSOs). We compiled all the reports together with CSOs in thematic discussions and published the reports in our webpage and other public information channels. After completion of the reports, we selected four CSOs to whom we gave more thorough advice about putting the recommendations given in the reports into practice. The reports with toolkits and the ongoing counseling programme will help to sustain the results of the future group.
