Description

By Icelandic colleagues (Asdís Egilsdóttir, Ari Páll Kristinsson etc.), the applicant was encouraged to come for a longer period to University of Iceland to hold more lectures on the themes which applicant is specialized in, namely translation problems concerning Old Norse names. Also the first preliminary result of research concerning the concept of Old Norse body had attracted interest of both teachers and students at University of Iceland, so applicant would like to give more lectures about both topics and get also a feedback from the relevant partners. As to the research, applicant would like to select and collect relevant primary and secondary sources necessary for field of interest, Concept of the body in Old Norse literature, as most of them are not available in the Czech libraries. The goal of research is to show how the human being as a whole was perceived by one of the few European cultures where the ways of understanding of soul and body are not contradictory.
