Summary of project results

The project supported the introduction of environmental education, public awareness and education to family and maternity centres in three Moravian regions. Project was based on the idea that solutions to the current environmental problems must start by educating small children and providing proper patterns of behaviour in the family. It was also based on the fact that parents of small children are more sensitive to environmental topics due to interest in the health of their children. The project highlights the potential of hundreds of family and maternity centers (RC and MC) operating in the Czech Republic to strengthen environmental consciousness of entire families with children, mostly aged 0-6 years. There are family and maternity centers in each region that want to participate in environmental education. Their employees are interested in increasing their knowledge and skills in this area and to share it. For these reasons, the project included an informative and experiential educational activities for almost 30 emploees and volunteers of family and maternity centres. We handed them the basic knowledge, advice, tips and tutorials for three pilot testing environmental programs: regular lessure guided activity for parents with small children (2-3 years old), suburban camp for children mostly aged 2-6 years and two events for the whole family. We have organized three types of educational meetings for clients of five centers that joined the project. Family and maternity centers also received Manual for introducing environmental education into family and maternity centers. We have been pointing out also the potential of centers of their indirect effect in environmental education of their clients in order to provide them an example of their environmentaly friendly operation or by publishing educational materials (Ecodiar for next year). During the pilot test of environmental activities in our Family Center Provázek we worked with nearly 150 engaged clients. We were trying to create and develop their attitudes friendly to nature, enriching them with practical information, advice and tips. All provided in spontaneous and natural form, and in particular the common experience and direct contact with nature. Thanks to the provided Ecodiary for 2016, we indirectly addressed 2,000 families that have gratefully accepted diary as an interesting gift using and environmental educational potential for the whole year.
