Description

The project "Education without a difference" is focused to extend the network of educational institutions for disadvantaged preschool children which do not attend kindergartens and their start on the elementary school is fraught with several difficulties. Pre school club „Kuřátko“ activities are designed to help recognize, compensate or eliminate educational handicaps of socially excluded children. Besides educational interventions, there are implemented activities with family in home background and extended environment, to involve them in preschool training and motivate to cooperation. The project also offers service of after-school education for 1.grade children at primary school. During the project 50 children and 45 parents will be supported.

Summary of project results

Preschool education and school attendance is a key factor for children to be successful at school. Children from socially disadvantaged backgrounds usually do not attend kindergarten. Their start at school lacks basic skills and knowledge, and they do not cope with this handicap well. Parents of children from socially disadvantaged backgrounds are not motivated to provide children any help and support leading to increase the necessary competencies and skills. The project managed to improve the learning environment for children and develop their skills. In order to achieve the planned results two main activities were implemented. 1st) running club „Kuřátko“ and 2) extracurricular education of children. In both activities, intensive work with families was emphasized. Club "Kuřátko" was run daily from 8-12 hours. There were implemented 24 thematic educational events for children - visits to the theater, talks and museums. A cooperation with the three nursery schools was established, in which 16 adaptation stays have already taken place. Children's education took place mostly in the home with parents who were gradually transferred competencies for self-support of children. Twelve children were enrolled in the promotion of longer than 6 months. During the holidays were implemented 9 of leisure activities to ensure better integration into normal life. Education of parents took the form of discussions on topics such as bullying, financial literacy, health, education, etc. 48 parents were supported in the nine meetings which were realized.For children there was a significant reduction in the deficit in understanding of curriculum. In some children improved benefits to the two classification stages. Parents, through cooperation with preschool kids club to ensure better conditions for education (job security) and improve their skills necessary for learning with children.
