Description

The project aim is to provide help to “hard to reach” high risk children and their families living in Prague, avoiding cooperation with social services, Departments of Social-Legal Protection of Children (DSLPC). The project employs innovative tools of work – a mobile multidisciplinary team working with families in their natural environment in the complementary composition of professionals and phases focused on diagnostics, intervention and stabilization. It also supports continuous cooperation with DSLPC based on case management and intervision groups of professionals. It raises awareness of possibilities for changes in children's lives through the guide of the good practice on Youtube.

Summary of project results

The project responded to the need to bring a new tool of help (multidisciplinary mobile teams – MT) for high risk children and families avoiding cooperation with social services and social and legal protection of children (SLP) into practice. This need resulted from the feedbacks of SLP in Prague, from the annual SLP Reports (Ministry of Social Affairs). The project objective to ensure, that socially vulnerable children can grow up safe and well in their own families, has been achieved through achieving the outcomes within the partial project aims. The MT was built for 47 children. MT mapped/assessed the cause of the trauma/risks, reduced the child's stress in the family context, interrupted the cycle leading to the trauma – new cognitive strategies, provided first interventions and built for children and families a supportive net in the community. The MT tool has broadened the offer of services/programs for high risk children in SLP agenda in Prague, the methodological recommendations for implementing MT have been updated, including “pricing” which will contribute to its replication. Through cooperation of STREP with five engaged SLP offices on case management of the particular cases, the cooperation between the NGO and SLP offices has been promoted. This model of cooperation has been described in the methodological recommendation for the further replication. 5 intervizion groups were run where professionals working with the target group of vulnerable children across sectors had the opportunity to network and to contribute their ideas to seeking solutions for vulnerable children. In Prague, a new tool of help for high risk children MT was disseminated and promoted in the field. MT brings coordinated help of psychologists, therapist, special pedagogues and social workers into the natural environment of the child.
