Description

The area of Děčín faces a lot of problems due to its lower economical and social status. The number of families experiencing problems is increasing and CHSD is the only organisation offering social services to these families. We would like to develop our services and to respond better to the needs of clients. We want to improve our cooperation with the department of social and legal protection, establish a new field of services for foster families and prepare educational programmes for clients suffering from social exclusion. We want to provide services in at least 20 families in troubles and make sure children will not have to leave the family. We want to get licence for working with foster families and work at least with 10 f. families. We would also like to arrange and run two educational programmes aimed at financial literacy and skills for getting a job, each for 5-8 people. We also want to improve fundraising policy of the organization and make a solid fundraising plan for the future.

Summary of project results

The project set 4 basic aims: 1. To improve the efficiency of individual planning in families in co-operation with OSPOD. We missed complete methodology defining when to finish the co-operation in the family so sometimes the work was prolonged pointlessly; 2. To develop the services for families we provide, adding services of support for foster families, which were missed in Děčín; 3. To increase competence of some client families in financial literacy and solving debts as well as of competence necessary to get a job; and 4. To develop the fundraising system and create a fundraising plan. We have created an innovated methodology for our co-operation with OSPOD and we checked it. The methodology was published on our websites (www.chsd.cz). We have prepared the basic offer of services set by the law and we enriched them of other activities, e.g. several-day stays for children or group meetings for foster parents. We also created the quality standards and shared them with 7 other organizations. We have created two educational programmes corresponding with special needs of our clients: 8-lesson course of financial literacy and 25-lesson course of JOB club. Two project workers got training in the area of fundraising and a plan was created. We worked with 31 families where the co-operation was longer than 3 months and we can consider 30 (96.8%) successfully supported (the expectation was working with 20 families and 90% successfully supported) so the children could stay in the family and the situation improved. Out of 44 individual plans we implemented 79.5 were at least partly successful (expectation was 70%).
