Description

The project responds to the need to eliminate the perception of the family as a barrier for career women in the Czech Republic. Thanks stereotypes with regard to women's careers in the Czech Republic is expected, that if necessary, care for the family it will be the woman who gives up a career and will take care of a child or an elderly person in the family. The family is seen as support for the men and a career barrier for women. Currently, however, the decision-making positions in politics, business and science gets more and more women. Through qualitative survey, we want to find out how these women have adapted their family background, and help other women who want to build their careers. Quantitative research needs are identified women who seek a career yet. The publication, which will be presented to the project outputs will be available to women, organizations and public to help promote the careers of women and eliminate persistent stereotypes.

Summary of project results

The aim of the project was to find out how to organize family to support the careers of women. What are the models of family arrangements that support women's career? Is a family still perceived as a barrier to career development and job in leadership positions? During the project, we seeked answers to our questions, especially through working groups in the participating regions in Prague, South Moravian Region and the Liberec Region. We realized there depth interviews with women in decision-making positions (12x) and a questionnaire for women who aspire to build a career (300x). Outputs investigations are summarized in the publication "The Family in the professional life of women," and presented at the conference in Prague. Our expectation that women for elimination of choice "family or career", need support especially in the area of child care services are only partially filled. As a vital and important aspect of managing the building careers for women and have families showed support for their partner. This support professional growth is seen in the Czech society as an obvious way from women to men. Research in this project showed that for the involvement of women in decision-making positions is necessary support and vice versa, from men to women. It is therefore necessary that the Czech society invited and involved in the care of family and children also men. We believe that the project outputs will contribute to this change, but the consequences can not yet be measured. Publication of project outputs (100 pieces) was distributed both to the professional public and state institutions, and to parents.
