Description

Improve the starting position of Roma children from Dobromilice and Hradčany-Kobeřice during their integration into the main educational stream. Support and maintain their success at school. We have been working in both localities since long time. We know the situation: Pre-schoolchildren are not ready for school, schoolchildren do not prosper well, and the support from parents is poor. Individual support intensified pre-school preparation, extra lessons, motivation, free time activities and emphasized engagement of parents.

Summary of project results

The aim of the project was to contribute to positive change at socially disadvantaged Roma children from the villages Dobromilice and Hradčany- Kobeřice (Olomouc Region). We tried to improve the starting position of those children within elementary education - increasing and maintaining the educational success. Direct work with children took place at least one hour twice a week. Tutoring took place at “Centrum předškolní výchovy” (Hradčany 12) or at primary schools or even at home. The project also leaded to improve a children's motivation. The project also included leisure activities in which children could join us with their parents at lantern procession, dancing workshop for children, Christmas party, football tournament or fashion show. Thanks to the project the majority of children have improved marks in some subjects at school. At the final phase of the project was developed a methodology and know-how which should help in continuing our activities for teachers, parents, but also for the organization Romodrom o.p.s. and their employees. Thanks to the project we have established cooperation with 32 children from AmE elementary school with whom we regularly learn at least 2 hours a week. In conclusion of the project the methodology and know-how was based on experience and praxis we have gained during the project period which has continued to help workers from Romodrom o.p.s. when they work with children.
