Description

The aim of this project is to give the opportunity directly to about 4 000 people living in Brno and thousands of people living in other regions to participate in decision making and process planning. This will be achieved through introducing new applications, which are built on open data, and spreading best practices into municipality and into the engaged broad public. There is also database as one of the project outputs that includes at least twenty topics for open data system. The project will last 21 months and focuses on Brno public, the broad public from other regions, municipalities and public administration staff as the main target groups.

Summary of project results

Through online tools and educational activities the project contributed to the growth of public participation on local as well state level. Online web applications “HejbejBrnem” and “Muzu dychat”, based on open data, are examples of meaningful and useful usage of accessible information and effective way for informing the general public about the quality of the environment. Educational trainings, meetings, workshops and interactive conference called BarCamp allowed participants from the general public, civic iniciatives, NGOs and public administration recognize open data as other tool of public particiption and effective public administration. Tens of inspirative experts and lecturers showed to participants topics dealing with access to information, online civic participation and with direct comunication of public participation. Participants from various backgrounds contributed to vivid dialogue, especially crossing the barriers between public and public administration. Public campaigns promoting positive picture of open data led to increse the general public awareness about this topic and make other efforts of data accessibility easier. Thanks to engagement in more transparent public administration, easier accessibility to information and last but not least accessibility of data in open format, project provided higher quality of public participation to decision-making processes on local level and supported efforts through public and civic sector in process of data opening.
