Description

The project "Community to community" will help to create a volunteer center in Kyjov. We want to mobilize citizens to take an active approach to problem solving, educate the public in the issue of volunteering and highlight the benefits of volunteering. The project will build a database of volunteers and based on their experience and interest they will be placed in nonprofit organizations.

Summary of project results

Our organisation is involved in community planning of city Kyjov where emerged the demand for organized work with volunteers. Hodonin district has an extensive network of NGOs, but the concept of volunteering is not too publicized and expanded, yet this activity allows the connection with the community and contributes to make it better place to live. Due to project “Community to community” was created a community volunteer center in Kyjov. We managed to mobilize citizens to take an active approach to solving problems, educate the public on the issue of volunteerism, to emphasize the benefits of this activity. We have built a database of volunteers and non-profit organizations. Volunteer Centre and the volunteer club have been in operation since November 2015. Volunteer club serves primarily to strengthen the motivation of volunteers, sharing experiences and as a source of information about volunteering, where volunteers have a library with literature not only about volunteering. Since the autumn 2015, we conducted lectures on volunteering for students at a secondary medical school, grammar school and municipal library in Kyjov. Repeatedly we realized presentations for service users of therapeutic community Krok and for labour office counter workers. The Volunteer Center also initiated spreading the idea of volunteering through local media such as Kyjov television, Kyjov newspapers, Nové Slovácko newspaper and Deník newspaper. We have negotiated contracts with Domov Horizont, Centrum služeb pro seniory Kyjov, Centrum sociálních služeb, Nemocnice Kyjov, Charita Kyjov, Zelený dům pohody Hodonín a Centrum pro rodinu Kyjov, Dětské centrum, Educante a Městská knihovnou Kyjov. In the database of our Volunteer Centre are registered 79 volunteers and with 70 volunteers (61 from target group and 9 others) haveentered into a contract on volunteering.
