Description

The overall goal is to contribute to the improvement of the police cooperation and to develop the long-term cooperation between Norway and Bulgaria and aims to accelerate the effectiveness of law enforcement authorities in the implementation of the Schengen acquis. The realization will enable Bulgarian police forces to develop their infrastructure and capacity, as well as to strengthen the coordination in the Schengen Area in this field.

Summary of project results

The project contributed to the improvement of the police cooperation and to develop the long-term cooperation between Norway and Bulgaria and accelerated the effectiveness of law enforcement authorities in the implementation of the Schengen acquis. The realization was contributed Bulgarian police forces to develop their infrastructure and capacity, as well as to strengthen the coordination in the Schengen Area in this field. The cooperation activities in the form of study visits, meetings, exchange of experience and best practices, trainings were conducted under the project. The Project objective contributed to the improvement of the police cooperation and to develop the long-term cooperation between Norway and Bulgaria. The project’s activities contributing to the outcome above envisage improvement of the professional competencies of Bulgarian, Norwegian and NSIS end-users (through trainings and study visits). IOCD officers and end-users of NCIS were trained with cases in the field of cross-border cooperation and exchange of operational experience dealing with SIS II, as well in the field for effective implementation of European exchange information systems. Norwegian officers participated in exchange of experience and best practice in the framework of the study visits. A specialized vehicle with technical equipment for exchange of information was delivered. A training centre in IOCD was built.

Summary of bilateral results

The cooperation activities in the form of study visits, meetings, exchange of experience and best practices, trainings, etc. under the project improved the police cooperation and to develop the long-term cooperation between Norway and Bulgaria. In addition the partner under the project is the Norwegian Police. The conducted trainings/seminars and the bilateral meeting with the Norwegian police were achieved the output improvement of cooperation methods and structures for effective implementation of the Schengen acquis. The project outputs should be considered as fully achieved.
