Description

Center for Mental Health (CMH)-Burgas is the only psychiatric structure serving 13 municipalities in the Burgas region. There is a high growth of general and panic disorders, etc. A sharp increase of the number of patients turning to CMH for support and therapeutic correction of neurotic symptoms is recorded. At the moment, the required variety of programs for psychosocial rehabilitation corresponding the degree and nature of the damage to each patient in not being supplied. The project will provide a new service aimed at the leading needs of people: social integration through trainings in skills for self or minimum supported operation in sociality, dealing with their medical therapy, control of the symptoms, etc.Through providing the psychosocial rehabilitation in the daily center, quality of life will be improved. Another service in the community by apparatus for electroconvulsive therapy will be provided by the project. The project will benefit patients with mental and behavioral disorders, their families,medical and nonmedical specialists, social workers,population of the municipality.

Summary of project results

The project aims to improve the care for people with mental disorders in the municipality of Burgas. The main purpose of the service is to create an inclusive and stimulating development environment for people with psychiatric disorders in Burgas Municipality, to allow them to compensate or eliminate functional deficits and interpersonal and environment-related barriers created by the disability. It is very important to restore the ability for independent living and socializing and effective management of one's own lives. By engaging the services' users in the socio-positive activities to overcome the psychological barrier that makes them feel unnecessary, provide them with conditions to help and overcome prejudices and discrimination. Within the project are: - Introduced new services for realization of an outpatient program for rehabilitation and integration of people with mental disabilities; - Introduced service for the therapy of persons with mental disorders on the territory of Burgas Municipality; - Increased quality of services for patients with mental disorders; - Increased qualification of hospital and outpatient staff; - Reduced social isolation of patients with mental disorders. The material base of the Day Care Center has been completely renovated and modern furnishings and equipment are delivered. The project contributes to the implementation of health policies at national, regional, district and municipal level. The project directly contributes to achieving the objectives and priorities of the National Health Strategy.
