Description

The project aims at protecting the health of children and women during pregnancy and, children from birth to the age of 3 by conducting health information campaigns; improvement of maternal and child health by providing neonatal and paediatric services and implementation of policies of reproductive maternal health and family planning; pregnant women and women recently given birth – 250 women, including pregnant women and recently given birth mothers, the target group of Roma origin - 100 women; new-born babies/infants and children up to the age of 3 and their families – 850 people, including new-borns and children up to the age of 3 and their families, representatives of the target group of Roma origin - 450 people. The project will benefit pregnant and recently given birth women; new-born babies and children up to the age of 3 and their families.The successful implementation of the project will have a lasting positive impact on the target groups and in this regard it is expected that the project will receive a broad support by the whole staff of "Second Municipal Hospital For Obstretics And Gynecology Sheynovo”.

Summary of project results

As a result of the active provision of neonatal and pediatric services and policies of reproductive maternal health and family planning in the homes of pregnant women and children up to 3 years, including representatives of vulnerable groups with a focus on the Roma population, the main target group of the project - pregnant women, newborns, infants and children up to 3 years of age and their families, had a positive change of their way of life in conditions of deteriorating demographic status, early fertility, high infant mortality and presence of significant social risks for large populations. The mobile medical equipment provided by the project is actively used by the teams of the Second Municipal Hospital for Obstruction and Gynecology Sheynovo Pls and the MHTH Ihtiman EOOD for the improvement of maternal and child health and thus contributes to the achievement of the overall goal of the project. 253 pregnant women and 850 infants were covered, 506 individual consultations in the hospital involving questions about safe pregnancy regime and diet during pregnancy, preparation for childbirth, parenting skills and child care and over 2 000 individual visits in the target micro regions were held.
