Summary of project results

The project addressed the need to raise public awareness about biodiversity protection in the area of Gabrovo. The children and young people who took part in the project learned about biodiversity in Bulgaria and had the opportunity to see rare and endangered species. With regard to the environment, the opportunities for protection of rare species improved and conditions were created to reduce the harmful impact of man-made activity on nature. The Orientation for All project brought together in a joint initiative young people who belong to different religions and ethnic groups. The project created conditions for young people from different social groups to work and create together and helped create the feeling that the end results can be achieved together and that differences do not matter for good planning, good teamwork and good implementation. Conditions were developed for joint planning and implementation by young people. Apart from the direct target group of young people, the project involved their parents, the representatives of local authorities and other youth NGOs for joint actions for environmental awareness and sports. Thus the project helped boost the contacts between the administrative and civil structures. The project left the young people with a place that has been discovered and mapped where they can spend their free time instead of pursuing negative activities.
