Description

The project addresses school violence, bullying, aggression and intolerance based on ethnic, social, gender and age grounds. The project aims at promoting tolerance among the students from St. Cyril and Methodius Secondary School in the town of Slivnitsa by developing and applying a methodology to fight discrimination and promote teamwork in mixed classes. First, the methodology for positive role models to overcome aggression and bullying in school will be developed. Second, 125 students in 10 groups will be trained based on the methodology to respect human rights and overcome prejudices. Third, an entry and exit test of the students’ attitudes will be carried out and the strengths and weaknesses of the methodology will be analyzed. Finally, meetings with 70 teachers from the districts of Varna, Stara Zagora and Blagoevgrad will be held to present to them the methodology. The project will benefit the students, teachers, school management, peers and the local community in general.

Summary of project results

In its seven-year work with more than 200 school the Centre for Inclusive Education has observed widespread presence of the phenomenon of intolerance based on ethnic origin, social status, gender and age. We aimed at developing a project conducive to the creation of a microclimate of acceptance and cooperation between all children to overcome discrimination among them. Thus, in the course of the project, the guide One for All and All for One was successfully developed, promoted and disseminated. The guide presents an innovative methodology for work with children based on a positive role model that can improve acceptance and cooperation between all students regardless of their differences. The project outputs were developed as a result of working several months with 120 5th and 6th-grade students from different ethnic, social and cultural background from Saints Cyril and Methodius Secondary School in the town of Slivnitsa. 6 training sessions were held with 6 classes, respectively three 5th-grade classes and three 6th-grade classes from Saints Cyril and Methodius Secondary School in the town of Slivnitsa, to learn to work with the guide and apply the methodology. Several meetings were held with teachers from the towns of Vratsa, Blagoevgrad and Stara Zagora in order to promote the methodology.
