Description

The project addresses the need for adolescents to be encouraged to be active citizens. The project aims at stimulating adolescents to use the internet to do good through the Goteen.si mobile application. First, adolescents aged 10-16 in Sofia will be encouraged to perform interesting tasks in real time and receive recognition through the GoTeen.si app. Second, the Goteen.si club will be set up in Neofit Bozveli Community Centre in Sofia. The club members will be able to attend 2-hour meetings every Saturday for 12 months, take part in computer and photography classes and meet prominent public figures. Third, adolescents with anti-social behavior (ASB) will be also able to become club members and receive support at the club. In addition, psychological counseling will be provided to such adolescents and their parents. The project will benefit the students involved, students with ASB in particular, their teachers, parents, school staff and the community in general.

Summary of project results

The implemented project helped contribute via information technology to a new positive attitude in children and young people towards communication and life, encourage constructive behaviour and positive relations between them and acquire new useful knowledge and skills. With the help of information tools, the project activities helped create conditions for learning useful information, build values and qualities, provide tools for overcoming difficulties and negative emotions of the children and young people included in the project. The club meetings provided a protected space for activities and spending one’s free time in a pleasant and meaningful way. Permanent good relations were developed with Neofit Bozveli Community Centre in Sofia, school principals of schools in Poduene District in Sofia City and with the Local Committees fighting against Anti-Social Behaviour of Minors. The first season of the online game GoTeen.si created during the project received 6932 unique visitors. 87 sessions were held in computer literacy and acting clubs. Psychological support was provided to the children and young people in need. The online platform www.goteen.si, the apps developed for smartphones and the GoTeen.si Club will continue to be active after the project end.
