Summary of project results

The project addressed greater civic engagement of citizens in the town of Gabrovo. It helped create a motivated local community in Padalo Neighbourhood of the town of Gabrovo that can identify local issues, make independent decisions and organize itself to achieve the results. The target groups took part in all project stages: the parents were members of the council and the children joined in volunteering activities. The joint efforts of the residents helped them achieve their goal to provide the children from the neighbourhood with a good place to play and thus help develop team skills and thinking. The partner organization prepared and carried out a 4-module training ("Let’s break the ice", "Ever Since the World Began", "I participate", "Team with a Dream") and helped with the overall organization of the neighbourhood initiative. In turn, the leading organization managed to reinforce a new image of the town community centre among the local community, that is a community centre devoted not only to the conservation of intangible cultural heritage but also to the social problems of the community.
