Description

The project addresses the need for greater civic engagement in the town of Chiprovtsi. The project aims at encouraging active citizenship through volunteering. First, a detailed plan to search for good practices from Bulgaria and other European countries will be drafted. Second, a website will be developed and 2 persons will be trained to upload data. Third, children will be involved in 4 volunteering events to paint public buildings (a school, a kindergarten). Fourth, 25 volunteers will help do the catchment of 2 wells, clear and mark a mountain route and clear another well. Finally, Volunteering Day will be marked with a photo exhibition. The event will be attended by all the stakeholders. The project will benefit children, volunteers, community centre staff, local authorities and the local community in general by engaging people more actively in activities to the benefit of the community.

Summary of project results

The project Will for Good addressed the need for greater civic engagement and volunteering in the town of Chiprovtsi, Northwest Bulgaria. For that purpose a series of initiatives took place with the participation of more than 100 children and young people. Apart from the volunteering campaigns planned (Young Volunteer, Spring Water, Volunteer’s Day), training in Teamwork, Accountability and Efficiency was carried out under the project which helped boost the capacity of the association. Another project outcome was the project website http://www.charchiprovtsi.com/index.php/bg/ and Will for Good leaflet which was published in a circulation of 500 copies and which includes examples of good practices from the donor states. The association will take care of everything that was achieved in the mountain and intends to continue recovering wells and building the new eco-route.
