Description

The main goal of the project is reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and air pollutants by building solar installations for 7 (seven) Kindergartens located on the territory of Nessebar Municipality. As a result of the project implementation the energy efficiency in 7 kindergartens in Nesebar Municipality will be increased. Seven installations for preparation of public hot water (PHW) with flat-plate selective solar collectors will be set up into exploitation. The seven sites envisaged will consume 184 060 kWh solar energy and will lead to a reduction in CO2 emissions by 141,68 t on an annual basis. Based on this, the total savings on electricity and diesel for PHW preparation for the buildings amount to BGN 40 379,80/annually, i.e. EUR 20 645,86/annually. The information and publicity measures include placing of temporary information boards during the project implementation on the territory of the seven sites of the kindergartens in Nesebar Municipality. The information and publicity measures also foresee production and dissemination of information materials (folders, flyers, brochures), photo shooting, press releases to media and media monitoring. The implementation of the project activities will contribute to deepening the bilateral relations between Bulgaria - the country receiving support and Norway - the donor-country in the project. Sustainable contacts, exchange of experience and good practices will be established. The participation of the Norwegian partner will contribute to a more significant exchange of know-how and to achieving international cooperation aimed at improved efficiency of project implementation. Based on the described methods and prerequisites, the present project and partnership will achieve a long-term and synergy effect.

Summary of project results

The realization of project resulted to the achievement of the global goals and objectives of Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area, and namely: • Reduction of the emissions of greenhouse gases and air polluters through the construction of solar installations of 7 (seven) kindergartens within the territory of Nesebar Municipality. • Reaching social cohesion because the implemented measures improved the current condition of the kindergartens, i.e. social community centers, and affect the youngest population. • Lowering the levels of economic and social difference in the European Economic Area by reducing such differences on the territory of Bulgaria between dynamic urban centers and the structurally weak peripheral regions. • Activating and promoting social commitment of the local population as a result of the completed activities, which stimulated new initiatives and relevant actions. The implementation of the project achieved the planned and expected specific goals and objectives - higher energy efficiency in all 7 kindergartens on the territory of Nesebar Municipality through the construction and commissioning of 7 installations for preparation of utility hot water for daily needs with flat selective solar collectors. The applied parameters on annual basis for the seven sites provide the utilization of 184060 kWh solar energy, reduction of the emissions of CO2 with 141.68 tons/year and of expenses for electricity and diesel for the preparation of utility hot water for the buildings.

Summary of bilateral results

The project partners –Nesebar Municipality and Henrik Storm Ofteland established partnership relations before submitting the project proposal. Later, within the progress of the works, such partnership developed. The parties keep correct relations with regular, timely and adequate communications. The interactions between the members of the project team from Bulgaria and Norway got closer during the working visits in both countries. The established cooperation is lasting and sustainable, so future joint projects have been planned.
