Summary of project results

With the implemented RES measures in the two sites of intervention under the project - in the building of the Municipality of Lom and the two homes for elderly people in the village of Dobri Dol, there is achieved an increase of the share of energy from renewable energy sources in the energy consumption and increasing the comfort of living in the homes for adults people who will reduce social differences. Greenhouse gas emissions and air pollutants have not yet been reported due to the period of implementation of the flood - during the heating season, but their measurement and reduction will have a lasting economic impact for the Municipality of Lom and the maintenance of social facilities. Through the exchange of experience and know-how with the active involvement of the Norwegian project partner in the implementation of the project and the visit of specialists from the municipality of Lom in Norway the bilateral relations between Bulgaria and Norway were strengthened and a basis for upgrading projects in this area was established during the next programming period. The results at the end of the project fully meet the targets - the carbon dioxide emissions saved - 172 t/yr. Replacement was done of the oil boiler with a pellet boiler - cleaner fuel and a higher heat production efficiency, with power calculated for the needs. It was possible to use solar energy - RES with installation of high efficiency solar collectors to provide the real needs for domestic hot water and processing of the heating installation. The air-water heat pump unit was used as an alternative heat source, with the possibility of using and cooling and providing comfort in the summer period for the occupants of the homes. A new massive outbuilding for a boiler room was built at the Home for Older People with Dementia, on the site of an old ravine, where the pellet boiler and the pellet warehouse were located, and the solar collectors facing south were located on the roof.

Summary of bilateral results

Beneficiary of the project is Lom Municipality in partnership with the Norconsult company and EnEffect Consult EOOD in Sofia. The partners united on the idea that with the realization of the project the comfort of living in the premises of the social homes in the village of Dobridol and in the Municipality of Lom increased. The homes for elderly people in the village of Dobridol and the building of the Municipality of Lom will have new and efficient heating systems, providing constant hot water in the homes, which will lead to energy savings, important and financially in the budgets of the social institutions and the municipality. Another important conclusion is that the results of each project must be visible and transparent to society and citizens in order to highlight the importance of saving energy in the global world. That is why we particularly emphasized the actual monitoring and monitoring of the energy used in the building of the Municipality of Lom. Placed in a prominent position in the lobby of the Led-plate building, it will account for the instantaneous value of heating power and other important energy indicators - heat losses, average temperature, carbon footprint data in the flue gas. The data will come from the new boiler room and the processing area will be a computer post with an Internet connection in the fire-room operator's room.
