Description

The purpose of the Project is to restore and preserve the structure of the main tower of St. Mary’s Basilica in Gdansk, with the overall objective of slowing down the adverse weathering processes and repairing visible damage, as well as promoting European cultural heritage in the Pomeranian region. Reference is made to the application, dated 16 April 2007, and to any subsequent correspondence with the Focal Point. The completed Project shall include the following activities and results: • preparation works, including dismantling of protective nets, carrying out a digital metric inventory, securing scaffolding, etc.; • abrasive cleaning of the facades; • restoration and preservation works to the facades; • desalination of the facades; • water-proofing of the facades, including repairs to cracks and gaps; • repairs to the roof, including dismantling of roofing, replacement of roofing (i.e. tiling), metal works (works to lightning protection system, cord conduits, and sheet copper coating; and • supervision and project management, including publicity activities. The Project Promoter is the Roman Catholic Parish of St. Mary of the Assumption, Gdansk. The Focal Point shall ensure that City of Gdansk provides at least 15 percent of the estimated eligible Project cost.
