Summary of project results

Death of a parent is an overwhelming change for the entire family which often then loses the ability to deal with the critical life event and gets into financial hardship. This situation is mostly reflected in the negative emotional state of the child. Since providing aid and support to this specific target group is a basic pillar of the organisation’s work, its activities will continue after the project is over. The objective of the project was to support healthy psychosocial development and development of life skills of children and youth at risk, and help them handle difficult situations more easily through intervention, prevention and field activities. Self-help groups will work long term in incomplete families, where mothers with older children will help mothers with younger children. They will advise each other and look for solutions in various problematic life situations. The outcome of the project In natural family environments, the project provided regular intervention services to disadvantaged children and youth as well as their mothers. Concurrently, the scope of the organization’s work was extended to the community of the Lower Orava region. The planned outcome was fully met. Main outputs: 30 disadvantaged children/young people and 10 mothers involved in the project; 1 new community; 50 hours of training for 2 employees of the organisation; 3 educational seminars Beneficiaries were involved mainly through their active participation in activities organised for children and youth, as well as in education, community, and support activities for mothers – widows.
