Description

The specific objectives are: promoting cultural diversity through performances about vulnerable groups and categories, the cultural representation of Jewish minorities, through communitarian shows performed by residents of Moses Rosen Home for the Elderly, activating the civic consciousness of young people through the methodology of participatory art, the facilitation of free access to theatre performances in Bucharest and four other cities in the country, the development of the artistic experience of the artists through Forum Theatre, the development of bilateral relations through the collaboration with NOproductions, a Norwegian company. The expected results are promoting education through arts and culture for large categories of audience and the facilitation of free access to education and art. This result is achieved through the 20 performances of documentary theatre, through the 6 performances of communitarian theatre, 12 performances of the new 2 political theatre productions in the project, 8 performances of the 2 new productions in 4 cities, 2 public presentations of the 2 workshops. Another result is the creation of 20 theatre performances.

Summary of project results

In the local context where marginal and oppressed groups rarely have the chance to affirm and promote their perspectives, the project aimed to give a voice to vulnerable groups in society and promote intercultural dialogue through the medium of theatre performances and workshops of education through theatre. All the specific objectives of the project have been fulfilled: promoting cultural diversity through theatre performances; cultural self-representation of the Jewish minority through community theatre; promoting civic participation and forum theatre methods among high-school students; facilitating free access to the theatre performances for a wide heterogeneous audience from 4 cities in Romania; training the artists in new methods of participative political theatre; developing bilateral relations through the collaboration with a Norwegian company with experience in methods of participative political theatre. The main deliverables were: 20 representations of documentary theatre plays / 1404 spectators / 657 involved in debates, 2 new productions of political theatre / 13 representations / 1125 spectators / 459 involved in debates, national tour in 4 cities / 8 representations of political theatre / 663 spectators / 250 involved in debates, 7 representations of community theatre / 15 members of Jewish community involved as performers / 449 spectators / 347 involved in debates, positive feed-back obtained through theatre chronicles, media and social media reactions, comments at the post-show debates, questionnaires completed by spectators, 10 local artists trained on forum-theatre methods by Norwegian actor/director Morten Bruun, 30 high-school students trained on forum-theatre and participative theatre methods, 2 public performative presentations of the workshops / 97 spectators / 6 scripts of participative theatre written by high-school students . For the general audience of the performances, it was a chance to learn about marginal / vulnerable histories and perspectives and to involve in inter-cultural dialogue with artists and members of vulnerable groups. The students involved trained on methods of participative theatre and on civic non-formal education. The artists involved gained new skills in participative and political theatre. At local and national level, through performances, public events, dissemination of results in public media and social media, the voices and perspectives of vulnerable groups and communities have been promoted.

Summary of bilateral results

The results of the partnership with the Norwegian theater company Noproductions consisted in training of 10 Romanian artists on theater-forum and theater-participative techniques and the strengthening of the organizational capacity of the O2G association through the development of the international network. The partner's professional contribution consisted of facilitating the workshop of participatory theatrical / theater theater techniques, coordinated by the Norwegian director and actor Morten Bruun. These results directly contributed to the development of pupils' civic participation through theater-forum / participatory theater methods.
