Description
Unemployment, low wages, lack of prospects, helplessness, lack of role models in the family home, domestic violence in childhood, lack of parental care and poor living standards, as well as inadequate parenting skills, drugs and alcohol all contribute to the prevalence of domestic violence in Bartoszyce town. The aim of the project is to reduce domestic violence in Bartoszyce through a series of educational, preventive and informational measures in the community. Target groups of the project include parents from communities being at risk of violence (25 people), children and adolescents up to 18 years of age (25 people), victims of domestic violence and perpetrators (20 people), people with disabilities and the elderly affected or at risk of violence (140 persons), professionals working with families (30 people) and persons affected by violence, as well as the local community. The expected results of the project are improved prevention of domestic violence at the local level as well as improved ability of participants to cope with crisis situations.
Summary of project results
The activities implemented under the Project have contributed to improving the system of preventing domestic violence at the local level. The expected outcomes of the Project - 'improving infrastructure in preventing domestic violence at local level' and 'improving participants' skills to cope in crisis situations' - have been achieved. The target values of all the indicators were achieved, some of them were exceeded. The Project enhanced cooperation between different institutions working with victims of violence. The main achievement of the Project was development of educational and preventive activities and improving infrastructure in the field of preventing domestic violence in the Bartoszyce city. In addition there has been expanded offer for victims of violence by establishing cooperation with Crime Victims Assistance Network in Warmia-Mazury District. To sum up, the main achievements of the Project are: - increased awareness about domestic violence and GBV in Bartoszyce, - improved skills of professionals working with persons affected by domestic violence in Bartoszyce, - development of preventive and therapeutic measures, - development of infrastructure (accommodation for victims of domestic violence).
