Description

The project is an international cooperation model of several institutions and individual specialists, creating a platform for exchange of experience.Cooperation partners represent different principles of archiving and building art collections, defined by states’ historical, cultural and political situation.The central event of the project is an exhibition following an extended study. An international symposium addressing various archiving strategies of contemporary art takes place. The project targets Latvian and Icelandic art experts, art historians and researchers, culture institutions operators, students of art, history and theory of culture and related disciplines. The project promotes cultural exchange and develop collaboration between project partners through knowledge and exchange of experience, to enhance international recognition of LCCA and NYLO archives and art collections, to promote mobility of art experts,to develop an interactive exhibition exposition, attracting growing interest of general public, develop educational program aimed at various groups of society ,inform society and encourage discussion on relevant art and culture processes, promote less known phenomena of cultural heritage. The project results in 5 archive related exhibitions, international symposium dedicated to archiving practices, an event for the educational programme in the framework of exhibition to be developed by Latvian and Islandic project partner -The Living Art Museum (Iceland)and partner’s functions include involvement in Project activities–participation during research period and in international symposium in Riga,thus strengthening intercultural dialogue while dealing with project research topics.Core activities of the project ensure input in promoting cultural diversity and synergy of cultural spheres, involving experts and artists of different countries. The creative team of the project will consist of specialists from Iceland, Latvia and also Turkey.

Summary of project results

The project was an international cooperation model of several institutions and individual specialists from Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia and Iceland for creation a platform for exchange of experience.Project partners represented different principles of archiving and building art collections, defined by states’ historical, cultural and political situation.The central event of the project was the travelling exhibition “Lost in Archive” in 5 cities of Latvia, following an extended research. The exhibitions have additional events like seminar, lecture, meetings with member from the project’s creative team and excursions in the cities. An international symposium “Lost and Found in Archive” addressing various archiving strategies of contemporary art takes place in Riga, Latvia. The project’s events were attended by approximately 6463 visitors.The project promoted cultural exchange and develop collaboration between project partners through knowledge and exchange of experience.Core activities of the project ensure input in promoting cultural diversity and synergy of cultural spheres, involving experts and artists of different countries.The project was new opportunity for the artists and local society members to look at the archives mission by the different way, through the art.

Summary of bilateral results

Project partner’s functions included participation during research period and in international symposium in Riga, thus strengthening intercultural dialogue while dealing with project research topics. Beneficiary had involved the partner as a co-curator of project activities proposing scientific research and concept development of the exhibition and symposium presented within the framework of this project. Cooperation model wwere use methods to encourage acquisition of new knowledge, and, through exchange of experience and knowledge, to ensure international mobility of art professionals of both countries.Project helped to strengthening relationship between project promoter and project partner and to plan further cooperation projects in culture field.
