Description

The project’s aim is to create a favourable environment for young peoples' life and self-expression. Eight institutions working with youth unite their efforts and seek to establish the youth centres that will help to offer completely new services, including psychologists, design, art therapy, relaxation, physical development by means of gymnastics and training equipment. The spaces renewed and the innovative equipment acquired, the principles of open work and the voluntary work applied during the project will provide the youth with the possibility to test new forms of artistic, sports and different cognitive activities, and to recognize themselves and their own abilities. The project’s target group is divided into the two age groups 14-19 and 19-29. The project’s activities will provide the socially vulnerable, inactive, problem youth with the possibilities to form an identity and a perception of self-esteem, to increase the possibilities of employment, self-expression, and involvement in the activities, and strengthen social competence.

Summary of project results

The project’s “Varėna district for young people - young people for the progress of the district” aim was to create a favourable environment for young peoples' life and self-expression. Eight institutions working with youth united their efforts for establishing of the centres for youth. This project was outstanding by the fact that the youth and the partners have taken part in the stage of formation of the project’s idea. The vision of the open youth centres was “drawn” by 663 young people of Varėna District. The centres now offer completely new services, including psychologists, design, art therapy, relaxation, physical development by means of gymnastics and training equipment. The center spaces were renewed and the innovative equipment acquired. The principles of open work and the voluntary work applied during the project provides the youth with the possibility to test new forms of artistic, sports and different cognitive activities and recognize themselves as well as their own abilities. The project’s activities provided for the socially vulnerable, inactive, problematic youth creates possibilities to form character and a perception of self-esteem, increase possibilities of employment, self-expression, and involvement in the activities, and strengthen social competence
