The aim of the project Today's Music is to organize new workshops, professional consultations, joint training, and study trips for the creation of an educational module and pieces of new work of art. Philharmonia Hungary looks for contemporary artists, professors and students who produce new work of art by focusing on 1.) contemporary music and dance art; 2.) thematic highlights, that would result not only in a piece of art or pieces of art, but a complex program. Our aim is to establish a pilot program with the cooperation of university students where actors of contemporary music and members of university of arts create new pieces of art as part of an educational modul of which creation is the parallel goal of the workshops. Participators of the workshops become a.) actors of an educational module on their own level of education, that is higher education/university, b.) creators, establishers and certifiers of contemporary works of art that are related to contemporary music, improvisation, dance art, eurythmics, c.) producers of an educational modul in which the empathy of creation itself, the workshop-feeling must be turned into a conscious program for students of primary and secondary education. Philharmonia Hungary would like to invite contemporary artists/professors to lead workshops with the participation of students of Hungarian Dance Academy, Training Choreographers & Dance Pedagogues, Department for Training Choreographers and Theoretical Department alongside with students of hungarian higher art education with the aim of creating an innovative educational modul that offers multilayered opportunity for more ages of students to simultaneously get to know and feel contemporary arts (especially music and dance art) by self-fulfilment and realization of the process of creating art, performing art. The project's focus is on giving the most detailed financial, technical and professional background for this dialogue.
Summary of project results
The main goal of the „Musical Feet” project was to launch a programme that was suitable to draw the elementary and secondary school children's attention to contemporary art, first and foremost, contemporary music. The workshops in the 2016/17 academic year were operating as open courses, focused on the processes of artistic creation and reception. Due to its versatility, the education model – worked out by excellent musicians, choreographers and education experts – provided a powerful tool for music educators by opening alternative ways of teaching and learning. The module was based on creative music listening, vocal training and eurhythmic exercises. Applying the module agenda, students were involved into the creative process, deepening their reception and understanding of art and music. 20 participants with a good grounding in arts successfully finished the course, having an opportunity to try their newly acquired expertise. The positive feedback on the probation period confirmed that the project contributed to implement an educational programme which could play a central role in forming a dynamic and flexible concert-pedagogy agenda in the long run as well.
