Summary of project results
The main goal of the project was to obtain insight into the Icelandic best practices regarding renewable energy production and usage. Furthermore, it aimed at disseminating this knowledge among researchers, students and scientific partners of the Szent István University. The core activity of the project was supplemented by additional activities, including study trips to Iceland for researchers of Szent István University; training programmes for students, representatives of NGO’s and business stakeholders; organization of a scientific conference to disseminate relevant research results. The study trips organized by Reykjavík University gave opportunity for the researchers of Szent István University (1 professor, 3 associate professors, 3 assistant professors, 4 PhD students) to obtain insight into the corporate practice and scientific knowledge of renewable energy utilization based on circular economy principles. The project also included 5 thematic training programmes (3 in Hungarian, 2 in English). These occasions provided essential information to Hungarian and international university students as well as for business stakeholders and NGO’s regarding the role of renewable energy systems in the Circular Economy. The most important event of the project was the ‘Circular Economy: Focus on renewable energies’ conference. Well-known professors of the scientific community have had the opportunity to elaborate on their most relevant research results. Furthermore, representatives of business stakeholders and NGO’s also introduced their latest practical experiences.

The two universities had meetings on opportunities of further cooperation, where the participants prepared education plans and optional educational programmes. Improved knowledge and understanding were the main achievements on bilateral level. Bilateral fund did not involve and contribute to strengthening bilateral relations at this project.
