Description

The “Spreading Equality” Initiative pursues as its main objective to encourage labour incorporation of rural women in the male-dominated agricultural sector. In order to achieve this purpose, women around three rural areas located in three different Autonomous Communities (Andalucía, Comunidad Valenciana and Asturias) will be trained in various agrarian activities: apiculture, ranching, ecological agriculture and a complete knowledge of agricultural activities. These training processes will be complemented with enough preparation for women’s empowerment and entrepreneurship. At the end of this project, the representative entity will organise an Inter-territorial Conference to present the results and carry out an exchange of experiences between the beneficiaries and the staff which represents each previously mentioned area. The project has a publicity plan which includes two public events (Presentation and Results Conference), as well as informative materials.

Summary of project results

There is a wide gender gap in the labour market and the agrarian sector, as well as a deficit in the empowerment and the women entrepreneurial spirit; for this reason, the project goal is to enhance the number of women working in the sector. This goal has been reached. In Sierra Mágina, a course student has initiated an apiarian production enterprise, another two students are going to continue working on the family apiarian exploitation, at the same time as three of them are in the process of initiating a business project. In Castellón, the management of agrarian companies led by women has been boosted. In Asturias, two course students are beginning their professional path in the ecologic agriculture world and other group is considering taking the first step to this path. Therefore, the project has been concluded with a very positive result. All of this has been achieved thanks to the coordinated work of the partners involved. A monitoring will be carried out in order to guarantee the continuity in the results.
