Description

Initial target group of the mobility includes Master level students of the Department of International Relations of Tallinn School of Economics and Business Administration (TSEBA) for whom the programme allows to build expertise in the field of Indigenous Studies. Such mobility directly addresses the need of the Department / TSEBA to develop new areas of specialization / research within the broader discipline of International Relations that have both global relevance but that also represent Estonia’s foreign policy priorities.

Summary of project results

The project was very much needed for the students of International Relations to broaden their academic scope in the sub-field of inter-cultural communication. The courses they took in Tromsø should with necessity assist them in the process of finalising their final post-graduate thesis – from both empirical and methodological perspectives. The project was successfully completed with the two chosen students spending a full academic semester in Norway, receiving grades for the courses they took at the Arctic University of Norway and submitting generally positive feedback later on. The objective should be thought about in terms of ‘value added’ for the discipline of international relations – the students were away from the country of their origin while taking courses of their interest, networking and taking part at different seminars and round-tables with other students and scholars. The students’ knowledge in inter-cultural communication was significantly broadened.

Summary of bilateral results

Most likely that the Arctic University of Norway will have more exchange students from our Department. We would warmly welcome exchange students from the Arctic University of Norway at TUT. Also, it is very much likely that our academic curriculum could be adjusted to provide with opportunities to learn about indigenous cultures of the world.
