Description

The aim of the project is to support the implementation of therapies for children and youth with special needs, primarily to reduce the health problems in childhood and to prevent health problems arising during prenatal development. The project’s objective is to create sets of therapies that help to include people with health problems into practical life, to improve prevention and to prevent subsequent complications of target group. Therapies improving gross and fine motor skills, verbal and nonverbal communication, easier integration into the team, gradual eliminations of phobias and the opportunity to experience a sense of accomplishment will be supported. The emphasis will be placed on the implementation of a comprehensive therapies system (hippo therapy, animal-assisted therapy, art therapy, music therapy, drama therapy etc.). The main target group are handicapped pupils in the care of partner organizations. The partners will cooperate in providing contacts with the target group and in defining needs of the target group.

Summary of project results

The aim of the project was to support the implementation of sets of therapies for children and youth with specific needs, in particular to reduce the consequences of health problems in childhood, to prevent the consequences of health problems arising in prenatal development. Activities were conducted in following areas: canistherapy, hippotherapy, physiotherapy and swimming, physical activities, arte and dramatherapy and ceramics workshop, joint workshops with Czech and foreign experts, meeting of pupils involved in schools. The course of individual activities was documented by the attendance lists, photo documentation and project evaluation form of the individual activities coordinators of the project. The project's outcomes consisted in the involvement of children and pupils in individual activities, in the organization of individual meetings of pupils and teachers from involved partner organizations, where they practiced theater scenes, created arteterapies, etc. Joint workshops took place with the participation of Czech and foreign experts. Physiotherapy was conducted under the guidance of experienced physiotherapists, especially in the supplementary activity was supplemented Vojta's method, exercises on the labile area, exercises by Bobath. Physiotherapy has helped in a fun way of relaxing the body. In addition, pupils learned the correct posture, stretching, relaxation and use of individual muscles. Physiotherapy was supplemented by swimming in the swimming pool, staying in nature, when the students practiced some stereotypes of behavior, managed stressful situations, The primary target group was handicapped pupils in partner care. These include pupils with developmental disabilities, moderate to severe mental disabilities, or physically disabled pupils, sensory impairments (auditory, visual), communication disorders (speech defects), autism spectrum disorders, mild cerebral dysfunction, attention deficit disorder, and psychiatric disorders problems, combinations of different types of disability. Since they were working directly with these groups of pupils, pupils had to make a significant initiative and actively engage. Special pedagogues working with children and pupils of partner organizations were also actively involved in the project.
