In the Czech Republic, mental diseases is often associated with prejudice and stigma. This project is aimed at de-stigmatisation of mentally ill in the Czech district Beroun. The main project activities are prevention and awareness-raising activities targeting young people and the broader public including a campaign called „Mad? So what!” in view of reducing typical misconceptions and stigma related to mental diseases and mentally ill. Educational and promotional materials including newsletters focusing on the topic of de-stigmatisation will be printed and distributed and at least 5 public debates will be held in middle schools as well as at least 10 public presentations. The main target group of the project is the broad public and secondary school students from the district of Beroun.
Summary of project results
The aim of the sub-project is to improve public awareness of mental illness and their treatment options, to mitigate mental illness and mental health activities focused on prevention. In the course of the implementation of the sub-project, information leaflets with destigmatization theme were prepared, printed and distributed, the discussions took place at secondary schools in the Beroun region, public presentations were carried out, Lomikámen activities were developed and strengthened, thematic training events for secondary school students, the technical background of the organization for the organization of presentation events, direct involvement of clients and patients in all activities of the sub-project. More informed secondary school students in the region - as part of the Crazy? So what ! (in czech BNA) project, improving public awareness of mental illness and their treatment options, mitigating prejudice on mental illnesses and mental health preventive activities, continuing the implementation of the BNA project, bringing the issue of mental illness to the wider public, destigmatization campaign - production and distribution of Lomikámen clients' products , creation and distribution of information brochures on the subject of mental illness - addressing the wider public in the cultural and social events we have participated in. Destigmatization of mentally ill patients (with a targeted focus on Beroun district), reduction of negative mental health prejudices, raising awareness of mental illness and treatment options, direct contact and gaining positive experience with people with mental illness, creation of environment suitable for integration or inclusion mentally ill, development and professionalisation of activities Lomikámen, z. ú. - an organization dedicated to community social work for mentally ill and destigmatized activities.
