Description

The overall objective of the project is to create a program to prevent health problems of children. The program will draw on themes from the stories of unhealthy desire for thinness and receiving false patterns, educational part will focus on ways of recognizing symptoms and seeking help. Furthermore, the recipient wants to improve children's attitudes to the 7th -8th grade elementary school in the prevention of food disorders. Furthermore the beneficiary will prepare a campaign of prevention of eating disorders at 12 schools in 12 cities, which will help address another group of young people at risk. In total these activities will reach 600 students - direct participants of the program and another 1800 students - participants in preventive education campaigns. Methodology of the campaign will remain available for school prevention specialist. They will be able to use it for the implementation of preventive activities in their schools in the future. The target groups are pupils of 2nd grade elementary schools in 12 cities, 3 regions of the Czech republic.

Summary of project results

The aim and purpose of the whole project "Educational Programs and Campaigns of Food Disorders in Three Regions of the Czech Republic" was to focus on the prevention of health problems in childhood through thematic themes drawn from the unhealthy desire for leanness and the acceptance of false patterns. The educational part aimed at recognizing the symptoms and finding help. It took place at selected schools in selected cities in three regions of the Czech Republic. Children were drawn into the program through interactive learning methods and drama through education. The goal has been fulfilled, and feedback shows that the project was meaningful and helped by its own experience in awareness of the risks associated with eating disorders, orienting itself in the issue, leading to awareness of self-worth and learning when and where to seek help. A preventive education program was developed and implemented at selected schools in different cities. It was followed by peer-to-peer informative peer campaigns by volunteers at schools. The project was accompanied by a media campaign aimed at disseminating the idea of "I am who I am." Altogether, 22 primary schools were involved in the project in three regions of the Czech Republic, 915 pupils attended the program, and 208 volunteers were involved in the peer campaign, which involved about 4 369 other children. The project website was created, two viral videos were recorded, which were broadcast on regional TV stations in three counties together with the project's reports. Mediation was accompanied by on-line promotion and promotion through large-format prints and city lights in selected cities.
