Description

Prejudice against people suffering from mental illness is caused primarily by lack of public awareness in this area. A key factor contributing to prejudice is the general public's lack of experience with people suffering from mental health problems and media utilizing information about mentally ill or incidents involving them in an attention-seeking way. The project is aimed at raising public awareness in the field of mental health issues. The basic objective of the project is to contribute as much as possible to the destigmatization of people with mental illness. The project involves activities containing lectures at schools and lectures for employers, meetings for the public guided by an expert on the issue of mental illness and conference based on presentations of medical experts or people who are in close contact with the mentally ill Primary target group are students of primary, secondary and high schools. Secondary target group are employers of public institutions. Tertiary target group is wide public.

Summary of project results

The aim of the project: - Destigmatization of people with mental illness - raising public awareness of mental illness - the removal/mitigation of prejudice generally prevalent in the mentally ill society - raising awareness of representatives of state institutions, future social workers and social workers Fulfilling the aim: The aim was fully fulfilled. The activities implemented in the project had positive responses for the target groups. There have been events in which these groups of people were informed about the issue of people with mental illness, explanations of the prejudices that generally exist in society, questions were answered. A brochure and a mental health information leaflet containing contacts for free counseling have been published. Specific results of project: 1) 6 lectures at schools 2) 2 lectures for potential employers 3) 3 talks with experts for the general public 4) 1 final conference 5) Creating 1000 pieces of proceedings and its distribution Outcomes of project: 1) 6 lectures at schools - 106 educated persons 2) 2 lectures for potential employers - 7 educated employers 3) 3 meetings with experts for the general public - 60 educated persons 4) 1 final conference - 67 educated persons 5) 1000 pieces of proceedings
