Description

The project is focused on the implementation and development of case management for the therapy and treatment of clients with psychiatric diagnoses who are at risk of drug/substituent addiction. The project will implement case management to the services for clients with psychiatric diagnoses who are at risk of drug/substituent addiction in the new developed Addictology clinics SANANIM.The project is needed because services from the field of addictology, social support and medicine/psychiatry are not currently combined in an adequate way or with optimal timing, which leads to non-effective care giving, repeated treatment and hospitalization. Among the main target group of the project are people addicted to drugs who also suffer from a psychiatric diagnosis. The secondary target group consist of professionals, public health workers and students in the field of psychiatry.

Summary of project results

The main objective of the project was the introduction of a program aimed at the deinstitutionalization and destigmatization of psychiatric patients; namely to provide adequate and comprehensive treatment services using the case management method for drug users with comorbid mental illnesses. The aim was to introduce this method of work into addictological services in Prague, the capital city of Czech Republic, and to promote the knowledge among the professionals and students. Objective of the project was completely filled, the program was implemented and publicized. As part of the project, the implementation team was assembled, permanent working space was secured and services started to be provided. Some output documents have been written: manual, evaluation surveys and evaluated methods of work; manual for work with relatives, information materials for family and relatives. Four planned workshops were held. Leaflets had been printed and distributed and the project website has been launched. The planned number of case conferences was held with the active participation of clients and interested professionals. As part of sociotherapy, 16 people entry and travel fees were repaid, 10 clients accommodation fees were repaid and 11 clients received meal vouchers. 10 family members of the clients in total were included in the project. The target group was contacted directly - in the field - by active addressing and through collaborating professionals.
