Summary of project results

Project “Crisis centre in the territory of Ruse Municipality for victims of domestic and gender-based violence and provision of services in it“ envisaged the reconstruction of part of an existing building – the former Stefan Karadzha school. A Crisis centre needed to be established on the second floor of the building, which will specialise in the care for victims of domestic violence. The crisis centre comprised a complex of social services to be provided within 3 months. The period of use of the services at the Crisis centre was fixed with a view to its nature, purpose and philosophy. The services at the Crisis centre aimed at providing protection, rendering individual support, satisfaction of everyday needs, legal counselling and help for the users’ reintegration in the society or social and psychological aid, when prompt intervention was necessary, including through mobile teams for crisis intervention. As a result of the implemented grant contract the premises designed for the crisis centre were renovated as well as contracts for the supply of equipment, clothes, appliances and medicines were completed . The permit for the use of the premises was issued by the local authority. The implementation also included recruitment of staff for the crisis centre, activities on the improvement of the quality of life in Roma communities - visits to exchange best practices, a conference, one-day excursion.
