Description

FULLCHARGER Bulgaria is a part of the world’s largest charging station network. The project will invest in 10 fast charging stations to be placed at selected petrol stations in Bulgaria. The public charging stations will serve electrical vehicles in the existing and future market. Locations on the main Highways in Bulgaria. The gas stations will cover areas where the biggest cities of Bulgaria are situated, including the capital. Highway Trakia (South), the newly completed Highway from Sofia to the Burgas coast is the busiest in Bulgaria, thus the main road connecting Europe with Asia. Highway Hemus (North): Northern part of Bulgaria, where new infrastructure projects are launched by the Bulgarian Government. Sofia-Veliko Turnovo-Varna.The availability of 10 more fast charging stations will directly save 7 200 tonnes CO2 emissions over the next 10 years (if the stations are fully employed). Calculation of the direct savings does not include the indirect savings which will exceed by multiple times 7 200 tonnes of CO2 emissions when the charging stations will dominate Bulgaria.

Summary of project results

The entry of Electric Vehicles as a priority transport is a major policy of EU. At the beginning of the project implementation, there were not more than 257 electric vehicles in Bulgaria (manufactured by automakers and converts) and there were only 16 public charging stations installed with 3,7 kW power. At the end of the project implementation the number of electric vehicles in Bulgaria increased to 497 and continues to increase, the number of charging stations is over 57 with power 3,7 kW and 22 kW. Main activities during the project period: - Purchase, delivery and installation of 5 fast charging stations; - Negotiations with petrol stations for providing places for installation of stations and project for electric supply. - Design and realization of construction works. The project outputs are as follows: - 5 fast charging stations installed. The promoter had experienced difficulties to ensure the co-financing of the project (it had not received the full amount of the loan agreed from the creditor). Thus the project resulted in reducing the number of the fast charging stations from 10 to 5 stations; - 4 temporary jobs for Roma people created.
