Description

The main objective of the project Green-weld is to create showcase both for the Promoters companies as well as on a national level, where procedures, methodologies, technological leadership and practical day to day operation with leading edge technologies shows how a company can reduce pollution, create energy effective fabrication methods and at the same time create a sustainable production. This objective will not only create a sound sustainable development for the Promoter and the Partners, but it is foreseen that it will have a major impact for the Bulgarian welding industry through its focus on energy efficiency and certification for that purpose. It will also have a strong impact, through the implementation of the new simulation software developed in the project, for the European education and training scheme for welding personnel through the harmonized guidelines developed by the European Welding Federation (EWF).

Summary of project results

The project aimed at: - Industrial research through development of a software simulation tool; no such tools have been developed in the national or international market that cover the welding fabrication process from material selection to cost calculation, including energy reduction and carbon footprint consequences; - Investment in environmentally friendly production equipment; - General education and training schedule with certification of personnel. Since the scope of the project had been narrowed, only few activities were conducted and the results achieved during the project implementation period were as follows: - 3 training seminars of the personnel took place in the Varna factory and 68 people were trained; - IQSIM were completely developed; - Functionality test of IQSIM were carried out and verified with Norwegian clients and users in the technical education system.

Summary of bilateral results

The cooperation with the Norwegian partners Quality Management Software AS and Vitec AS was very good and intensive during the project implementation. Vitec AS and is the largest company in Norway related to education and training in welding, NDT activities, Quality Control and services related to welding activities. The experienced Norwegian consultants conducted 3 general trainings and educated and trained reference key personnel in the company targeting environmental issues. Together with Quality Management Software AS, Vitec AS worked towards creating a software tool through industrial research that allows companies to evaluate different welding processes in order to select the most cost-effective and environmentally friendly fabrication method. Provided the experience that Quality Management Software AS has in project management, the company assisted the Project Promoter in the management of the project, as well as in the budgeting and reporting.
