Description

The „Sustainable Management in the Romanian Nonprofit Sector” project aims to support Romanian NGO`s in the process of achieving a more sustainable activity and improving their management practices. The Center will offer a Sustainable Nonprofit Management Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) course aimed at Romanian NGO managers, people who wish to start a new nonprofit organization or who are preparing to take up a managerial position in an NGO. The course will use innovative methods and tools, being made available to a wide number of potential students throughout the country. Moreover, the Center will be a meeting and networking place for the target-group, and the space will also be offered free of charge for NGO`s events. Also, an extensive library with books from throughout the world regarding NGO Management will be made available. The Center will also offer short-term courses and seminars, as well as an interactive management guide available online.

Summary of project results

In Romania, 10% of NGOs disappear every year, while more than 52% have no employees and 49% have budgets smaller than 10,000 euros. Moreover, the access to management education was limited, with just a few quality resources and tools available. With these statistics in mind, which threaten the sustainability of the Romanian NGO sector, Young Initiative Association, in partnership with VOLUM Federation and Academy of Economic Studies launched the Center for Nonprofit Organisations' Management (C'MON) in Bucharest. The aim of the project was to support the development of Romanian nonprofit organisations and increase their sustainability, by offering tailored innovative tools, according to their educational needs. Young Initiative Association’s vision is very clear: „Empowering people through education”. By this project, the promoter wanted to empower people from NGOs throughout Romania and offer them innovation, accessibility and knowledge. And that’s exactly what the project team did during the 14 months, having the following services and products available at the end of the training: - Infrastructure for meetings and trainings – C’MON space is offered for free to any NGO which needs a place for a meeting or training, along with the needed consumables. During the project, over 352 activities (trainings, workshops, meetings, interviews etc.) were organised in C'MON; - Online MOOC Course on Sustainable NGO Management – Open and massive quality education can lead to thousands of people being trained from their own homes. The first MOOC course in Romania dedicated to nonprofit organisations offers over 6 hours of contents, structured in over 52 lessons, in a highly qualitative manner. To date, 1500+ students have registered for the course, making it the most popular NGO course in the country; - Strategic planning while having fun were combined in the first board game for NGOs in Romania (RePlan), which was requested by over 450 organisations already. During the 14 months of the project, the team trained 180 employees and volunteers from NGOs throughout Romania, during 12 trainings and workshops that were organised on themes such as fundraising, communication, or the relation between stakeholders and NGOs. Indirectly, hate speech was tackled by using the “No hate speech movement” logo on most of the materials. C'MON space is also now offering a library with over 200 books, which can be borrowed free of charge.
