Description

A4Action Grow program is a project designed to ensure the building capacity of A4Action members to expand the scope of intervention in volunteering. The project will be implemented in partnership with Volunteer Center Cluj Napoca and will be run for a nine months period. Project activities will be developed mainly in Snagov, Ilfov County. To achieve the main objective, we proposed the following specific objectives: SO1 -Improve A4Action volunteer management capacity; OS2 - Developing volunteer programs for 10 young people aged 14-35 years in rural areas; OS3 -development training programs for the 10 selected local volunteers; OS4 -informing 500 rural people about the benefits of volunteering. This project is an opportunity both for A4Action, which will be advised in the management of volunteers in an organization with extensive experience in this field, as well as for young rural people as an opportunity to get involved in volunteering.

Summary of project results

"A4Action Grow Program" had the aim to develop A4Action members and employees in order to increase their capacity to work with volunteers. The project included both organisational development activities using project partner's experience in this area, as well as volunteering activities where volunteers interacted with the community and were able to put into practice all their acquired skills. During the organisational development process the promoter organised a training on “Volunteers' management” and a kick-off meeting during which they developed the necessary internal documents and the methodologies for recruiting and selecting 10 new volunteers to take on different positions in the project. A set of procedures was developed and a recruiting campaign took place. The 10 new volunteers benefited of trainings such as: Graphic facilitation, How to build healthy relationships, Communication, Socio-educational animation, First Aid. Together with the members of the organisation, the 10 volunteers succeeded to implement 4 volunteering programmes from which the local community could benefit: two educational programmes - "Bring the little ones to do their homework with us", "Tuesday storytelling"; a creative environment protection programme: “Creativity workshop - upcycling/recycling”; a programme for youth to spend their free time: “Bootcamp Nonformal – games/movies/friends”. A campaign to promote volunteering was developed and over 300 people from Snagov locality found out about the benefits of volunteering. The promoter also established the first youth centre in Snagov locality, a place for volunteers to meet. The second part of the Volunteers' management training was organised towards the end of the project; it focused on international volunteers' management and A4Action members learned the important steps in volunteers’ management in the context of European Voluntary Service (EVS). The project was a good opportunity for A4Action Association to develop and to benefit from partner's experience in terms of volunteers' management. The project was also a good opportunity for Snagov community to learn about volunteering and get involved in volunteering activities; around 75 youngsters were involved in the activities as beneficiaries.
