Description

The project aims at maximizing the share of renewable energy resources in the total energy consumption. As a consequence of the reconsideration of the risks of nuclear power plants after the Fukushima disaster, the rising price of fossil fuels, and CO2 emissions penalties, the move towards renewable resources is seen as one of the solutions to the energy crisis. The project objective is harnessing renewable hydropower by building a small hydropower plant (SHPP) on the Timis River in Constantine Daicoviciu, Caras Severin county. The project will result in 5297 MWh/ year of electricity produced from hydropower, enough to ensure 3422 average household consumptions. Households and industrial consumers in general are expected to benefit from the project, since higher electric energy capacity will result in lower electric energy prices.
