Description

Project description: Renergi distributes and implements systems for pollution reduction and optimization of combustion the hydrocarbon fuels. The project supported with GII programme assumes research and development tests on highly innovative Mergi MNO, a metal catalyst, which presents new method of designing combustion catalysts. Partners: The project will be implemented in cooperation with Renergi A.S. and Technical University of Wroclaw. Project objectives: • Research and development on new method of designing combustion catalyst • Improvement of economic efficiency of burning fossil fuels • Reduction of toxicity of the fumes Outcome indicators: • Reduction in SO2 emissions – 59 462 tones/ year • Reduction in Nox emission - 27 816 tones/year

Summary of project results

The project, implemented in cooperation with a Norwegian company Renergi AS and Wrocław University of Science and Technology, consists in research and development works aimed at application of an innovative Mergi MNO catalyst to improve the quality of the coal combustion process. The newly developed and patented catalyst is to be used in various facilities (e.g. power plant) using coal as an energy source. Expected reduction of gases assumes 50% reduction of SO2, 40% reduction of NOx and also 8% reduction of CO2 in fuel consumption. The green effect is obtained in the facilities using the catalyser and depending on the scale of future usage will lead to significant CO2 reductions.

Summary of bilateral results

Project Promoter has closely cooperated with Norwegian partner as well as other Norwegian suppliers during R&D phase as well as during tests and further adjusterements of the catalyst. This has built a strong relation between companies and will possibly benefit in the future.
