Description

A beneficiary of project 16/NMF “Strengthening the Border Guards capacities to combat organised crime, including trafficking in human beings” implemented between July 2014 and April 2016 is the Central Border Guard Training Centre in Koszalin. The purpose of the project is to improve the knowledge and practical skills of the Border Guard officers, which will translate into increased effectiveness of activities conducted by the Border Guards. The project target groups will include BG officers in charge of preventing and combating organised and cross-border crime, both those responsible for analysis, planning and action strategy determination as well as field officers. Through their participation in the courses, postgraduate studies and conferences, planned within the scope of the project, the officers will acquire knowledge of how to effectively prevent and combat organised crime, provide assistance to victims of trafficking and will work out effective methods of cooperation with representatives of relevant non-governmental organisations and other services.

Summary of project results

During scheduled, within the program, courses, postgraduate studies and conferences, Border Guard gained professional knowledge on efficient organized criminality preventing and combating, support delivered to the victims of trafficking in human beings and developing methods of the cooperation with NGOs connected to that problem e.g. La Strada foundation. The direct outcome of the project is raise in the level of knowledge and officers skills regarding those themes what resulted in better efficiency of Border Guard actions. Thanks to the project much many officers gained background needed in facing problems related to the project. Within the framework of the project several activities have been prepared: - Training on practical aspects of information in the process of organized criminality combating (80 participants in 4 editions), - Training on social and cultural background of organized criminality (79 participants in 4 editions) - Training on identification of trafficking in human beings victims (59 participants in 3 editions) - Training on simulation of the trials concerning trafficking in human beings (39 participants in 2 editions) - Training on surveillance as a method of support delivered to the organized criminality combating (39 participants in 3 editions), During the courses and trainings also 12 lecturers of Central Center for Border Guards Training have been trained. Also 40 people have been instructed in criminology, victimology as well as social and cultural aspects of migration and trafficking in human beings, during postgraduate studies. Initial and final project conference have been organized.
