Description

The overall aim of the Project is to increase the capacity of law enforcement in combating and preventing trafficking in human beings by building competence and to contribute to strengthening institutional cooperation in providing assistance to victims of trafficking with particular emphasis on assisted voluntary return and reintegration. A series of trainings will be conducted, focusing on preventing and combatting trafficking in human beings. Target group of those training will mainly consist of Border Guard and National Labour Inspectorate representatives. Interactive Training Application as an IT tool dedicated to this project will be established A current system of assistance for victims of trafficking will be analyzed, with a particular focus on voluntary return and reintegration assistance. Experience of previous cooperation between the involved institutions and the implementation of assistance under this Project will be used to develop and test more effective ways of cooperation.

Summary of project results

The objective of the project was to increase the capacity of law enforcement to combat and prevent human trafficking and to strengthen institutional cooperation for providing assistance to victims of trafficking with a particular emphasis on assisted voluntary return and reintegration. Within the project implemented in cooperation with the Border Guard Headquarters a series of training sessions focused on preventing trafficking were organised for Border Guard, National Labour Inspectorate and judicial staff. 495 individuals were trained. The training sessions made use of a mobile application, designed to be an interactive teaching aid and developed within the scope of the project. The project included a study visit in Bulgaria, during which representatives of the IOM, Border Guard and the Ministry of the Interior and Administration shared their experiences with non-government organisations and with their local counterparts. The project also included pilot schemes aimed at assisted voluntary return and reintegration, addressed at 13 trafficking victims from Bulgaria, Ukraine and Romania.
