Description

Because of their size and population, Poland and Norway are the countries “created to cooperate” within the bigger regional, and transnational structures. At the same time, neither the relation between Polish and Norwegian governances and transnational governances, nor the bilateral interests have been identified. GoodGov aims at providing a better understanding of challenges in the sphere of national governance faced by Poland and Norway, and the ways the two countries can collaborate in order to improve their governance and promote their interests at the European level. The project will contribute to the development of bilateral relations and practical cooperation on energy, security and migration. The mapping of interests will be done on the bases of extensive research, total of 6 months of the study visits, and interviews. GoodGov will benefit various groups: the policymakers, experts, business communities, NGOs and the societies.

Summary of project results

The project was needed to explore previously non-researched areas of governance framework of Poland and Norway in the three relevant fields: energy, migration and security. The project’s objectives have been achieved and the results were widely disseminated. Within the project a number of reports, analysis and policy papers were developed. Numerous workshops, seminars and conferences were hold to both discuss the research and present project findings (in Poland, Norway as well as the final seminar in Brussels). A better understanding of Polish and Norwegian governance frameworks was the main project’s achievement. A number of ways for continued further cooperation were identified.

Summary of bilateral results

A better understanding of Polish and Norwegian governance frameworks was the main project’s achievement. Polish and Norwegian scientific communities were closely cooperating, that allowed them to gain better understanding of factors shaping the Polish and Norwegian governance in migration, energy and security policies. The project is about to be prolonged confirming strengthened bilateral relations at the project level and a need for further more in-depth research. The bilateral cooperation allowed to include both Norwegian and Polish perspectives into the project’s findings.
