Description

The project focuses on the collection of tapestries ordered by King Sigismund II August in Brussels between 1550-1560. The project aims at the educational activities concerning the problems of multicultural society in Poland in 16th century, scientific researches of textiles and their use in conservation, exchange of knowledge concerning problems of education and conservation.The scientific researches, including microbiological researches, photodegradation, and researches concerning destruction of fibers, will help to establish the actual condition of the collection. Educational offer will provide broadened access to culture especially to the disadvantaged groups. The project also help to start the process of developing high-tech researches techniques which could be used in conservation.

Summary of project results

The Norwegian Institute for Air Research (NILU) provided analyses of the environmental conditions in Kraków - one of the most polluted European cities.
