Description

The project will be implemented by the Communication and information systems Directorate - Ministry of Interior (MoI). The budget of the project comes to 2 575 740, 00 Euro, 386 361, 00 Euro of which are national co-financing. Objective of the project: Development and improvement of structures, systems and technical equipment in order to improve the implementation of the Schengen acquis, as well as strengthening of the cooperation between the police in the Schengen Member States. The objective will be achieved through construction of a TETRA network along the border with Greece. Main activities: - Preliminary design of the TETRA network along the border with Greece. - Delivery of Tetra Base Stations in TETRA standard, radio relay equipment and licenses. - Delivery and installation of software to control and monitor the transfer environment. - Integration into existing TETRA network and radio relay system.

Summary of project results

In order to provide all of the MoI’s regional units located near the Bulgarian – Greek border with secure and reliable communications, extension and some upgrade of the current communication structure were needed. The delivered equipment (570 TETRA radio terminals, 600 HRL licenses for Tetra radio terminals, 15 TETRA base stations and 20 radio relay links) was integrated into existing TETRA network and ensures the extension of the TETRA network along the border with Greece and the further development of communication infrastructure of MoI. The extension refers to the territory of Kurdjali, Smolian and Haskovo districts with the radio coverage reached up to 70% .The improved communication ensures better interaction between the authorities and straightens their capacity to prevent and combat cross-border and organized crime, including trafficking in human beings and itinerant criminal groups
