Description

Tutrakan has a rich cultural heritage, part of which is stored in the local Historical Museum. The main part of this collection is not digitized. The project is aimed at the protection of cultural heritage, improvement of access and its promotion through modern IT. The project will establish a digital center in the museum with the aim of documenting the regional cultural history and developing expert capacity for digitalization of cultural heritage and its maintenance. The project ensures inclusion of Roma and minority people through their participation in the training on new technologies, introduction to local cultural heritage and sharing specific traditions. The project results in a digital library at the Historical Museum and the first ever digitization of 13% (730 pieces) of the Museum's cultural heritage collection, including 31 objects belonging to Roma heritage. Virtual tours, videos, and 2D and 3D models of cultural objects will be developed. Through a dynamic interactive portal and Virtual Museum in Bulgarian and English, this cultural heritage will be accessible to people all over the world, also those with visual disabilities. The groups targeted will be local public, Roma, minorities, students, researchers, tourists, and museum experts.
