Description

The project addresses the challenges faced by the disadvantaged people in Varna District (poverty, social isolation, difficult access to education, low skills). The project aims at supporting them to find jobs by raising their skills to seek and apply for a job through career consultations. First, the profile of the target group will be analyzed; a career consultation programme will be developed and 2 consultants will be trained. Second, 40 disadvantaged young people will join as participants. Third, the participants will be trained for 2 months to seek and apply for a job, write a CV, a motivation letter and have an interview. Fourth, after the training the consultants will work individually with the participants at least once every 2 weeks supporting them to seize the opportunities. The project will benefit the disadvantaged young people, career consultants and the local community. The partners will refer users to the consultants, establish contacts and help with the training.

Summary of project results

The project addressed the challenges faced by the disadvantaged people in Varna District (poverty, social isolation, difficult access to education, low skills). It expanded the offered services for career orientation and thus improved the well-being of disadvantaged young people. The centre for youth development created the necessary steps for successful employment of young people. The 47 disadvantaged young people who joined the project raised their skills and competence, their awareness about employment opportunities and education. They improved their chances to find a job on the labour market and integrate better. The attitude of the employers, classmates and the local community to these groups underwent a positive change. 47 disadvantaged young people joined the career orientation service that was provided. After they successfully passed training, 40 of the young people entered the labour market and/or improved their skills and competence. The project participants took part in volunteering, courses and informal training sessions. They were also supported under the project to develop business plans and apply for a job. The project was implemented in partnership with Kraimorie Youth Initiative Group, SOS – Families at Risk Foundation and Paisii Hilendarski Association.
